Visual artist Mario Sughi
Mario Sughi is an Italian visual artist based in Dublin. He is running an exhibition "Encounters" at the beautiful Luan Gallery (the art municipally gallery of Athlone) in Ireland. The exhibition will run until 26th of August 2017.
Stepping into the works Mario Sughi aka nerosunero who lives and works in Dublin is no simple task. One has to be open and willing to examine vibrant and often controversial or uncomfortable ideas juxtaposed next to dreamlike ideals. Currently on exhibit are a series of works that examine modern day life; from ideas surrounding the brilliant, light-hearted and familiar nature of our existence in the 21st century to questions of ideals, values and our development as a species. What is striking about the show is that the use of vibrant colour plays a significant role in setting its own controversy within some of the ideas that are portrayed in the works.
Nerosunero who creates large scale digital paintings which represent snapshots of strangers’ lives shows us in his works the validity of our present day circumstances by evaluating themes such as technology versus nature and man versus society. These glimpses of ‘encounters’ that represent public and private moments capture the mundane and the secret; once again placing a duality in front of the viewer to consider. A sense of life as fragments of real and fantasy or dreaming and reality can be seen in his works. The use of digitally created images initiates an atmosphere of examining ‘authenticity’ in today’s relationships and ultimately, authenticity in the world.
The exhibition runs alongside the works of Helen Mac Mahon reinforcing again the duality of the themes represented in the works of nerosunero. Luan Gallery is hosting the exhibition the 26th August in Westmeath, Ireland is open Tuesday – Saturday 11.00 – 17.00 and Sundays 12.00 – 17.00.
